Egorov Puginsky Afanasiev & Partners Ukraine retains top positions in Chambers Global 2015

Chambers Global 2015, one of the most reputable legal rankings, again top ranks Egorov Puginsky Afanasiev & Partners. For the fourth consecutive year the Firm has been recommended for all key practice areas in every jurisdiction of its presence. The guide also praises the Firm and its experts for their unique international law capacities.

Egorov Puginsky Afanasiev & Partners Ukraine is ranked among the country’s top law firms across all practice areas researched for Ukraine: Banking & Finance, Corporate/M&A, and Dispute Resolution.

Chambers Global ranks the Firm’s Dispute Resolution Practice in the highest Band 1, praising Managing Partner and Practice Head Serhii Sviriba for being a ”great strategist”. Clients describe him as “an affable, helpful and proactive - one of those people who make things happen.” The Guide also marks out Partner Markiyan Kliuchkovskyi and recalls his work for football player Cristobal Marquez Crespo on a dispute regarding the termination of his employment contract.

Corporate and M&A Practice is recognised on the local and international level. Among experts the Guide acknowledges Partner and Practice Head Oksana Ilchenko, “Austrian-qualified” Partner Ilona Zekelywho advises both Ukrainian clients active in Austria and Germany and German-speaking clients with business interests in Ukraine,” and “Washington-based” Partner Andrew Mac “who speaks Russian and Ukrainian, and is regularly active on cross-border mandates involving the CIS.”

Banking & Finance Practice is also highly estimated. The "solution-oriented" Partner and Practice Head Roman Stepanenko is praised for “having a broad financing practice” and additionally noted for his “capital markets expertise.”

Minsk office of Egorov Puginsky Afanasiev & Partners is recognised in Corporate and Commercial and Dispute Resolution categories.

The source top ranks the Firm for its expertise in Corporate and Commercial. Managing partner  Dennis Turovets is ranked in Band 1 and is praised by clients and peers a "a remarkable lawyer" who advises foreign clients on their local operations and also has experience in investments, tax and real estate. They say "he is experienced in different areas, meaning that he can provide a holistic view of the local environment."

Chambers singles out Head of Corporate Practice Anna Rusetskaya for recent advice to Exide Technologies on the development of a new plant site in Belarus.

Dennis Turovets also adds significant points to the Dispute Resolution practice thanks to his “international experience” and representation of clients in “disputes for clients across the wider CIS region”. His recent track record includes representation of Swiss client DGM Pharma Apparate Handel in a multi-jurisdictional dispute.  

In Russia, Chambers Global highly recommends the Firm in such practice areas as Dispute Resolution, Corporate and M&A, Restructuring and Insolvency, Tax and Intellectual Property.

The Guide top ranks Egorov Puginsky Afanasiev & Partners for its prominence and achievements in Dispute Resolution both in Domestic and International categories. Chambers marks out the Firm’s Chairman Dimitry Afanasiev as its “key rainmaker” who acts as “as a strategic adviser on significant business matters”. Managing partner Ilya Nikiforov who tops the individual ranking is “widely recognized as one of the leading international arbitration specialists” in Russia. Acting as an arbitrator he is described as "a smart, energetic and diligent lawyer." Partner Dmitry Dyakin who splits his practice between international arbitration cases and domestic disputes is praised for “entrepreneurial and creative” approach as well as “a winning attitude”. The Guide says "he is hands-on and a good communicator", "he is prepared to listen and gets to the bottom line of issues". Impressive “track record in highlighting local disputes” belongs to Partner Valery Eremenko. The Guide also admits that "he is an excellent specialist and has great experience in significant disputes cases". Partner Evgeniy Raschevsky whose track record includes large corporate disputes with a number of proceedings in Russian and foreign courts is well recognized "for his international arbitration expertise”. Chambers Global also ranks “respective” partner Sergey Kovalev for “his particular expertise in financial product-related disputes” as well as for “his experience in contentious commercial and energy cases”. Denis Arkhipov is singled out for being “extremely active over the past year on large corporate disputes”.

Chambers Global recommends the Firm’s Corporate and M&A Practice. Eminent Practitioner and “excellent strategist"  Dimitry Afanasiev focuses on advising on the strategic aspects of M&A transactions and contentious cases. UK-qualified Partner Robin Wittering advises on the English law side of the practice's most highlighted deals. The Guide marks out his assistance in the purchase of Tele2 Russia by Bank Rossiya and Alexey Mordashov. Newly ranked US and Russian-qualified partner Arkady Krasnikhin is active on corporate and restructuring transactions. His track record includes advising Metro on the sale of hypermarket Real's Eastern European business to Auchan.  US and UK-qualified London-based Partner Allen Thomas is recognized for his “strong international experience” and support on great number of cross-border acquisitions and joint ventures.
